LAMINATED ART GLASS WALLS - PRINTED ART FILM AND ETCH SURFACES :: WOODBINE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL - CAMAS, WASHINGTON
The client wanted to visually screen the stairs from the library space without blocking too much light. We suggested transparent clear glass - one side textured, the other sandblasted - with a pattern of color printed on film and "sandwiched" between the clear layers. This suited the architect and the building committee so long as the design reflected the environmental setting of the building, a mixed wood with tall trees.
We worked with 3hats Design in Seattle to develop the design. The leaves in fall colors and spring colors for the two walls was the perfect solution. The results is dramatic. The two library walls allow light to pass, provide interesting color and visually screens the stair spaces as requested.
